KLT Morgans'
main driving force is Karen Nelson. Karen is a Licensed Veterinary
Technician working in Kearney, Nebraska. She
graduated in 1986 with honors (4.0 average) and was then chosen for a much
coveted internship in the New York City Animal Hospital. After the
internship, she returned to Kearney to pursue her life-long dream of owning and
breeding the fabulous Morgan Horse.
Her first purchase was
Greyhills Idle Pride
(pictured below right), a magnificent 3
year old
blood bay gelding. With "Pride"
she found the joy of competition and
winning when Pride took Reserve Grand Champion Gelding and went on to
consistently win ribbons in English Pleasure Classes.
Karen's first mare, to become her foundation mare, is
Ganymede Cadenza (pictured above left). Karen chose "Cadee" to be
her foundation mare not only because of her flawless beauty, kind and willing
disposition but also because of her old government blood lines. Karen
believes these bloodlines embody what the Morgan was originally bred to be, and
believes strongly in preserving this part of America's heritage.
Cadee's first foal,
KLT Stardust Command, was Junior Champion Stallion at
four months of age, and continued to win until his eye injury in 1996. He
is currently standing at stud for KLT Morgans and is putting champion foals on
the ground with the disposition to be family horses as well. Cadee's
second foal, another colt, is KLT I Kan Command. "Ike" was Junior Champion
Stallion at four months of age and continued to win, to be nominated at the
World level of competition. He is currently standing at KLT Morgans and
has proven to be a wonderful asset to Karen's breeding program. More
information on these stallions including pedigrees, show records and additional
photographs can be found on the Stallions' page and also on their individual pages.
